ATTACHMENT George-Finamore
APR - 2 !993
The attached materials show the locations of the two houses,
the heights and distances of the critical features (windows, roof
peak), and the position of the sun at various times of day
through the year. The proposed second story would obstruct the
sky from 48° east to due south, and would be 31° high from the
window sills. It would be 24° from the tops of the windows.
The sun chart shows that during the times and dates in box
A, the sun will be completely obscured by the second story
addition, whereas we now enjoy direct morning sunshine. For
example, for the two months between Nov. 21 and Jan. 21, we would
completely lose the sun between 8:30 and 10 to 11 AM. In all,
the windows will be at least partly shaded from Oct. 1 to March
1. At present, the shadow of 708 just barely touches the
foundation of our house on Dec. 21.
This only treats one window. The shadow of the addition
would also fall on the southwest window for several hours before
moving east. In addition, our large kitchen windows also likely
will lose sun, and we have planned large glass doors out from the
kitchen to the porch.
