Park Superintendent Johnson recommended 70% of non irrigated or <br /> native areas not be mowed in 2011. <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Councilors were supportive of the Parks Superintendent's recommendation. <br /> Harper Lake Parking Lot Improvements: Parks and Recreation Director <br /> Stevens reviewed the requested improvements at the Harper Lake Parking lot. <br /> He noted the improvements have been budgeted for several years and at one <br /> time there was a proposal for an underpass. He stated the Parks Department is <br /> flexible and will work with the Planning Department relative to an at -grade <br /> crossing at the McCaslin intersection. He stressed Harper Lake is a popular <br /> amenity for Louisville residents. <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Councilors inquired about incremental improvements to the parking lot. Overall, <br /> Councilors were supportive of the Harper Lake Parking Lot Improvements <br /> McCaslin/Washington Intersection Pedestrian Crossing: Planning Director <br /> Russ explained Planning and Engineering are developing six pedestrian crossing <br /> alternatives for the intersection of McCaslin and Washington. They are looking at <br /> the intersection from a cost prospective, constructability and the feasibility of <br /> options ranging from an underpass, minor median widening, a traffic control <br /> signal, and an innovative design from the southeast. The alternatives will be <br /> presented to the City Manager and ultimately presented at a public hearing. <br /> Special Events: City Manager Fleming addressed the need for corporate <br /> sponsorship for City events. He felt it would be appropriate to begin to partner <br /> for public private sponsorship for the 2011 events. <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> There was Council consensus. There was also discussion on how the use tax, <br /> should it be approved, would assist in restoring some City sponsored events. <br /> Projections for Benefits and Compensation Costs: City Manager Fleming <br /> explained the projections for increases in employee compensation and benefits <br /> are not based on any specific index, but on a continuation of past trends and <br /> surveys from Mountain States Employers Council and other municipalities. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT <br />
