Historical Commission
Minutes
October 25, 2006

Executive Director's Report
A. A public hearing on the City of Louisville 2007 Budget will be held November 8. City
Employees have received notice that they will be required to take 4 furlough days in
2007. During the weeks that full time staff are required to take a furlough day, the
museum coordinator will also have to reduce her hours by 4. The City Council has
said that there is a possibility of additional service cuts.
B. Members were reminded of the The Harney-Lastoka Joint Meeting, October 26,6:30
PM. Diane Marino and Dan Mellish plan to attend.
C. Open Government Training is being offered again this fall. Each Commission
Member must attend once every two years. If you did not attend in 2005, the dates
for this year are Thursday, November 2,8:30 - 10:30 AM and Monday, November 6,
7:00 - 9:00 PM. Both training meetings will be held in the Library Meeting Room.

Museum Coordinator's Report
A. The Louisville Fire Chief strongly suggests a sprinkler protection system for the
Museum Campus. The City will get bids on a system so that the Commission put it in
its planning.
B. Due to City budget cuts, the City is unable to pay for a new water heater for the
Jacoe Store at this time. Elle Cabbage will ask for possible donations. If none are
received quickly, the motion was made and passed for the Historical Commission to
purchase a 10-gallon hot water heater (cost app. $500) and the City staff will install
it.
C. Deeds of Gift:
1) Carolyn Conarroe - research files used in writing her books.
2) Ellen Cholski - Stretz family photos of Louisville.
3) Becky Harney - a vintage hot water bottle.
4) Stuart Pritchard - a signed copy of his book "A Guide to Colorado Merchant
Trade Tokens."
All Deeds were signed and accepted.
D. Don Ross has brought approximately forty items relating to Louisville to the Museum
to be reviewed by the Museum Coordinator.
E. The Commission expressed interest in accepting a pick and an anvil associated with
Steinbaugh's.
F. Aline Steinbaugh also brought up a possible donation of a fire hose coupler/nozzle
from the original Louisville Fire Department. The current Fire Department will be
asked if it would like this item as it has the original fire bell.
G. Bill Cohen's narrative of the Monarch Mine Explosion has been linked to the City
Website.
H. The list of names of people who appear on the WWII DVD will also be linked.

Committee Reports:
A. Museum
1) Jordinelli House
a. There was discussion about moving the stoves and other heavy items among
buildings. With respect to the stove placement, some stove piping will need to
be redone.
b.
