<br />ORDINANCE NO. ~ <br />SERIES 1994 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6 OF THE LOUISVILLE <br />MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING THE REGULATION OF VICIOUS <br />ANIMALS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, C.R.S. ~31-15-401(1) (m) authorizes the City to <br />prohibit, regulate and control the keeping of animals within the <br />City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that vicious animals <br />are a serious threat to the safety and welfare of the citizens <br />because attacks by vicious animals are likely to result in serious <br />injury; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 6.12.020 of the Louisville Municipal Code <br />providing for the control and regulation of vicious animals is in <br />need of revision so that it adequately provides for the regulation <br />of vicious animals in the interest of protecting the health, safety <br />and welfare of the community; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> <br />Section 1. Section 6.02.010 of Title 6 of the Louisville <br />Municipal Code is hereby amended by the addition of new subsections <br />Land M to read as follows: <br /> <br />6.02.010 Definitions. <br /> <br />L. <br /> <br />Vicious animal. <br />that: <br /> <br />Any animal, including any dog, <br /> <br />1. Inflicts severe injury or death to a person or <br />bites or attacks a person or persons on public <br />or private property; or <br /> <br />2. Bites, attacks or kills another domestic <br />animal without provocation off the property of <br />the owner of the attacking animal; or <br /> <br />3. Chases or approaches a person upon the <br />streets, sidewalks or any public or private <br />property in a vicious, terrorizing and <br />menacing fashion in an apparent attitude of <br />attack whether or not the attack is <br />consummated or capable of being consummated <br />such that a person of ordinary sensibilities <br /> <br />1 <br />
