<br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1490 <br /> SERIES 2006 <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2.60.020 OF <br />THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING MEMBERSHIP <br />OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION AND PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EIGHTH MEMBER OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR A FIXED <br />TERM. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend Section 2.60.020 of the Louisville <br />Municipal Code to clarify the manner of appointment and terms of members of the Planning <br />Commission; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to provide for an eighth member of the Planning <br />Commission for a temporary term to expire on January 15, 2008; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />Section 1. Section 2.60.020 of the Louisville Municipal Code is hereby amended to <br />read as follows (words to be added are underlined; words to be deleted are stricken through): <br />Sec. 2.60.020. Members. <br />The planning commission shall consist of seven members who shall be selected <br />appointed upon the affirmative vote of a majority of the entire city council as <br />follows: FtveTwo members shall be appointed by the mayor, tvlO for the g term of <br />the mayor's office two years; two members shall be appointed for a term of four <br />years, and three members shall be appointed for a term of six yearsterms. All <br />terms shall commence on the third Tuesday in January in the year of appointment <br />and shall expire on such day at the conclusion of the last year of the term. +we <br />members shall be appointed by the city council and their terms shall be for a term <br />of the city council by ',','hich they arc appointed. .^~fter January 9, 1981, nNo <br />person shall be a member of the planning commission who is also an active <br />member of the city council, or the mayor. <br />Section 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section I of this ordinance, there shall <br />be appointed upon the effective date of this ordinance an additional member of the Planning <br />Commission, who shall be appointed upon the affirmative vote of a majority of the entire city <br />council, for a term commencing March 21, 2006 and expiring January 15, 2008. After the <br />January 15, 2008 expiration of such additional member's term, the Planning Commission shall <br />consist of seven members. <br />Section 3. Upon the occurrence of the first vacancy on the Planning Commission <br />occurring between March 21, 2006 and January 16, 2008, the Planning Commission shall be <br />deemed to have seven members and such first vacancy shall remain vacant until January 16, 2008. <br />Section 4. The provisions of Section I of this ordinance shall apply to each person <br />appointed to the Planning Commission on or after January 15, 2008. <br /> 1 <br />
