<br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1501 <br /> SERIES 2006 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6.12 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL <br /> CODE REGARDING THE LICENSING OF DOGS. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend Chapter 6.12 of the Louisville Municipal <br /> Code to clarify the requirements for the licensing of dogs, to make City requirements compliant <br /> with applicable state statutes, and to increase fees for dog licenses. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> Section 1. Sections 6.12.040, 6.12.050, 6.12.060 and 6.12.070 of Chapter 6.12 of the <br /> Louisville Municipal Code are hereby amended to read as follows (words added are underlined; <br /> words deleted are stricken through): <br /> Sec. 6.12.040 License - Required. <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person who is the owner or custodian of any dog to <br /> keep or permit such dog to be in the city without first obtaining a license therefor. <br /> All such licenses shall expire on December 31 of each ycar. The term of the <br /> license shall be from January 1 st through December 31 st. <br /> Sec. 6.12.050 License - Application requirements. <br /> \ <br /> Each application for a dog license shall be made to the city clerk and upon a form <br /> provided for that purposc. Each application shall be accompanied by a certificate <br /> from a duly licensed veterinarian showing that-the dog has been a current <br /> inoculation inoculatcd within a sufficicntly recent time with a vaccine approved <br /> by the state department of public health and environment for use in the prevention <br /> of rabies, so that such inoculation shall provide immunity from such disease <br /> during the calendar year for which the license is issued.No inoculation 'v'v'hich v.'as <br /> administered two years prior to thc date of the making of such application shall <br /> meet the requirements of this section. <br /> Sec. 6.12.060 License - Fees. <br /> The annual license fee shall bc $2.00 for each male or spayed female dog and <br /> $5.00 for each female dog. If a licensc is not issued prior to 1^~pril 1 of each yoar, <br /> $1.00 shall be udded to the foregoing liccnse fcc, unless the dog '.vas acquirod or <br /> the o'.'mer became a resident of thc city after }~pril 1 of uny ycar and beforc <br /> January 1 of thc succeeding year for spayed or neutered dogs shall be $10.00. <br /> 1 <br />
