<br />New Arts Center Steering Committee <br />Minutes <br />July, 16, 2007 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order-Don Atwood called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call-In attendance were Don Atwood, Lynn Fleming, Karen Gerrity, and <br />Melanie Muckle, representing the Louisville Historical Preservation Commission. <br /> <br />III. Recording Secretary-Lynn Fleming <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Agenda-Karen moved, and Lynn seconded, Agenda approved <br /> <br />V. Approval of amended minutes (Karen noted that the adjournment time of the <br />June meeting should have n9ad 8:42)-Karen moved, and Lynn seconded, <br />Amended Minutes approved <br /> <br />VI. There were no Public Comments. <br /> <br />VII. Don deferred comment in order to hear from Karen and Melanie regarding <br />the "grain elevator" property., <br /> <br />VIII. Donna Flebbe didn't aUend the meeting, so her report on LAA was deferred. <br />Don, or another committee member, needs to talk to LAA to clarify the Steering <br />Committee's activities as they apply to LAA. <br /> <br />IX. At the June meeting, Karen was charged with looking into the potential <br />availability of the "grain elevator" property, owned by the Thomas family, for a <br />future location of a new arts center. <br /> <br />A. Karen spoke to Beth Decker, one of the remaining daughters of the <br />Thomas family. (Father = Charles Thomas, other sister = Barb Stahr) <br />B. Karen was directe,d to Beth's son, Michael, who contacted Karen about <br />July 13th. <br />C. Karen learned the following: <br /> <br />1. The land is for sale. <br />2. It was appraised at 1.2 million in 2006 and is approximately 2 <br />acres or 52, 100 sq.ft. <br />3. Michael said that the City is interested in the property, but he's <br />interested in a charitable component being part of the sale. <br />4. When Karen told Michael about LCC's activities as 501 c3, he <br />seemed interested. <br />5. Karen asked him about restoring the grain elevator, but he said <br />that it's in great disrepair.
