<br /> <br />1.1 <br /> <br />City Council <br /> <br />Study Session Summary <br />March 8, 2005 <br />City Hall, Council Chambers <br />749 Main Street <br />7:00 PM <br /> <br />City of Louisville <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Louisville met in a study session at 7:00 p.m. in <br />Council Chambers, 749 Main Street, Louisville, Colorado. The following persons <br />were present - <br /> <br />City Council Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Chuck Sisk, Dave Clabots, Sheri Marsella, <br />Michele Van Pelt, and Don Brown (7:15 p.m.) <br /> <br />City Council Absent: <br /> <br />Mayor Pro-Tem Jay Keany and Arnold Levihn <br /> <br />Staff Present: <br /> <br />Heather Balser, Asst. City Manager for Govt. Relations <br />Bill Simmons, City Manager <br />Belinda Goebel, Administrative Assistant <br /> <br />Public Service Franchise Renewal <br />Todd Anderson, Community Service Manager for Xcel, and Xcel's attorney, Dudley <br />Spiller, were scheduled to attend the study session to discuss the two remaining <br />issues regarding the franchise renewal. Heather Balser reported that she received <br />a telephone call from Todd Anderson stating that Xcel's attorney was unable to <br />make tonight's meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk and Council asked Heather Balser to contact Xcel Energy to confirm <br />their attendance at the April 5, 2005 City Council meeting. <br /> <br />Transportation Update & Federal/State Lobbying Efforts - Mayor Sisk <br />Mayor Sisk reported on recent meetings in D.C. regarding US 36 Corridor lobbying <br />efforts. He suggested that the City of Louisville commit funds in the 2006 budget to <br />hire a lobbyist to assist the City in obtaining federal monies for transportation. He <br />explained that the City & County of Broomfield has hired a lobbyist to assist them <br />in obtaining federal transportation dollars, which has produced results for their <br />community. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk stressed the importance of continuous contact with State legislators to <br />keep Louisville in mind when discussing transportation issues. He wanted Council <br />to be aware of the amount of staff time that is required to pursue transportation <br />funding for the City.
