<br /> <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE <br /> <br />September 24, 2002 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Louisville met in a study session at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room of <br />the Louisville Public Library, 950 Spruce Street, Louisville, Colorado. The following persons were <br />present - <br /> <br />City Council: Mayor Tom Davidson, Tom Mayer, Michele Van Pelt, <br />Don Brown, John Keany, Chuck Sisk, and Arnie <br />Levihn <br /> <br />Staff Present: Bill Simmons, City Manager <br />Julie Boyd, Deputy City Manager <br />Heather Balser, Assistant to the City Manager <br />Tom Phare, Public Works Director <br />Charlene Laus, Finance Director <br />Paul Wood, Planning Director <br />Cindy Lair, Land Management Director <br />Keith Williams, Recreation & Senior Services Director <br />Jeffery Martell, Planner <br />Belinda Goebel, Administrative Assistant <br /> <br />Discussion/Direction – Countywide Ballot Proposal for an Increase in the Mill Levy Dedicated to <br />People with Developmental Disabilities <br />Representative Todd Saliman provided a brief overview of the organization Imagine!, formerly <br />known as the Developmental Disabilities Center. He explained that countywide ballot issue 1A <br />would raise the Boulder County mill levy by one mill to provide additional funding for those with <br />developmental disabilities and to provide services that had their funding cut from the State budget. <br />He introduced John Taylor, Executive Director for Imagine!. <br /> <br />John Taylor reported that Imagine! provides assistance to approximately 1,200 people each year <br />within Boulder County, including Broomfield, with 76 of those individuals in Louisville. He reviewed <br />the causes of developmental disabilities, as well as the types of services that are available to families <br />and individuals through Imagine!. <br /> <br />Representative Saliman stated that he supported placing this issue on the ballot because there are <br />over 500 people on the waiting list who are not receiving any services at this time, with 31 of those <br />individuals in Louisville. Imagine! predicts a shortfall of approximately $10,500,000, which this mill <br />levy will not be able to generate. He reviewed some of the State budget cuts and their impact <br /> <br /> <br />
