Louisville Cultural Council Meeting Minutes March 20, 2008
Roll Call: 7:05 at Staff Meeting room at the Rec Center
Present: Julie Kovash, Maryan Jaross, Don Atwood, Andy Langford, Lynn Wooten,
Rebecca Lasica; Late: Jim Pollicita and Susan McNamara
Staff Member Present: Kathy Martin
Youth Advisory Board Hannah & Megan
Absent: Carol Cheh Saia
Recording Secretary: Maryan Jaross
Minutes Amended and Approved: XIII: delete Discussion regarding a potential taxing
district; XVI: Maryan discussed the idea of showcasing local talents, such as high school
jazz bands.
President's Report: Julie Kovash
1. Thank you Don, Wendy, Jim and the City Staff for all their effort on the SCFD grant
which has been submitted. Last year's grant of $6K is for this year; $3450 will be for
2009 because we weren't able to claim as expenses in-kind donations from the City. We
will no longer be able to offer free children's concerts. Items, such as use of the Arts
Center that we counted as income need to accounted for as in-kind. The money no
running through the LCC bank account will help us with the 2010 grant cycle. SCFD
wants all groups to look elsewhere for funding and not be totally dependent on SCFD.
2. Four Steering Committees: Grants, Sponsorship, Art in the Park, Arts Center
Feasibility Study
Grants: Andy Langford (lead), Jim Pollicita
Sponsorship: Rebecca (lead), Carol Cheh
Art in the Park Maryan Jaross (lead), Susan McNamara
Arts Center: Don Atwood (lead), Lynn Wooten
Committee work sessions can have standing agendas; any paperwork will have to be
submitted before meeting.
3. Open Government training March 31 at 7 p.m. or April 3rd at 8:30 A.m. City Council
Chambers, 2nd floor, City Hall
4. From Kathy's Ethics Training, City Staff to reiterate to Boards, such as LCC, that
Boards don't make City Policy, their role is advisory. Clear mission and work plan.
5. Include address on agendas
