Louisville Cultural Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 16, 2008 <br />Louisville Recreation Center <br />900 Via Appia <br />I - LCC President Julie Kovash called the meeting to order <br />at 7:00 p.m. <br />II - Maryan Jaross was assigned duties as recording <br />secretary for this meeting. Carol Cheh will assume duties <br />for next meeting. <br />III - Roll call: <br />Present: Julie Kovash, Maryan Jaross, Jim Pollicita, <br />Andy Langford, Lynn Wooten, Carol Cheh, Don Atwood <br />(joined a little late), Frost Yarnell, Julie Seydel, <br />Kathy Martin, Joe Stevens <br />Absent: Susan McNamara, Rebecca Lasica <br />IV - The advertised Agenda was approved on a motion by Lynn <br />Wooten and a second by Julie Kovash. <br />V - The minutes of the last meeting were approved on the <br />motion of Lynn Wooten and a second by Carol Cheh. <br />VI - Guests: Joe Stevens, new Director of Parks & Recreation <br />Lori Jones, Art Underground <br />VII - Introduction of Joe Stevens, Director, Parks & <br />recreation for the last 3 months, was Dir. Parks & Rec in <br />Grand Junction for 14 years. Has a son and daughter-in-law <br />in Louisville. Joe expressed support for the cultural arts, <br />outdoors, and recreation facilities in Louisville and <br />recognizes the phenomenal pride and gratitude of Louisville <br />citizens. Everyone introduced themselves. <br />VII - President's Report: <br />Julie Kovash brought up the subject of whether we should <br />bring another position onto the LCC. Discussion followed; <br />we are at our by-laws capacity of 9; will review whether to <br />open another position. <br />Don, Julie & City Manager Malcolm Fleming will meet October <br />21gt to discuss progress on the proposed new Arts Center and <br />the City's position. There will be a working session with <br />City Council on the subject October 28th <br />Don, Julie & Maryan were reminded to reapply for their Board <br />positions to Mayor Sisk before the November 3rd deadline. <br />SCFD Scene 3 - Tier III Events Calendar: The cost is $100; <br />the question is whether it will bring more audiences to our <br />
