MINUTES - COUNCIL MEETING

July 20, 1971

Present in the audience were approximately 25 firemen - Lumberg - Urban Re-
newal, Bodhaine - Parks and Recreation, and Al Neill, applying tor ne"r license -
Twin Light Tavern.
"ROLL CALL: Tomeo, absent; King present; Berry absent; Hudrock, present; IX>ndelinger
present; Perrella, present.

Mayor Caranci opened the meeting and recognized Allen C. Neill who was
applying for a new license for Twin Light Tavern. His application was
reviewed by Paul Morris, and he intorned Mr. Neill that his application
could not be accepted until the corporation was a legal entity and bore
the corporate seal. Chief Patrick had taken Mr. Neillls fingerprints
and Mr. Neill was asked to bring the application to the adjourned
meeting on Monda.v, 26 July 1971, corrected as per Paul t s instructions
and it would be approved condi tionally .

Fire Chief Bill Ryan gave a report on the present condition of the
Rural Fire District, after having attended the meeting. Boulder County
Commissioners vetoed their plan. Bill also read a letter from Superior
stating that they no longer wished fire protection from our department.
After some discussion by the members and Council it was decided that
the resolution set 4 years ago, be upheld; if the Fire District failed
the Fire Department would discontinue fire protection outside the Ci ty
limi ts. During the interim several suggestions were made such as a
meeting with persons or groups before service was discontinued, such
streets bounding the City such as Johnson and W. Spruce were specifi-
cally mentioned, along with the increase of Insurance rates. The fact
that the District could take the truck back at any time presented the
problem of using the old truck and means of purchasing a new truck.
Motion made by Mudrock that we proceed with a public notice that as of
August 31, 1971 fire protection will be discontinued outside the City
limits of Louisville; persons or groups of persons outside the area who
desire service should contact Bill Ryan. Seconded by Dondelinger, roll
call vote - passed unanimously. Mayor Caranci requested the notice be
published in the Longmont Daily Times Call, Lafayette Leader, Town and
Country Review, Broomfield Star, Boulder Camera, and the Louisville
Times one time each week for 4 weeks.

Motion by Dondelinger, seconded by Rome that a letter of appreciation
be written to the firemen for a job well done. Passed unanimously.
Mayor Caranci thanked Paul for a.l:l his work for the Fire Department.

Richard Bodhaine, Parks and Recreation, commended Donna Waldon for
taking care of their books - stated that $2,000.00 has been spent from
their budget, $1,200.00 of which were bills left from last year. The
$800.00 spent this year was for renovating the ball park and Little
League Equipment. Work has begun on the southeast corner of the Gun
Club property and this area will be used as a playground for the children.
Fence is needed in centerfield and the lighting and wiring system at the
Ball Park needs to be rebuilt. These will be tkan care of in accordance
wi th their Budgeto Mayor Caranci also suggested to Mr. Bodhaine that
efforts be made. to obtain Federal .tunds for a swimming pool; that a
