The company is based in Boulder and has international
experience studying and designing energy efficiency and alternative energy
generation systems, and has worked with Xcel Energy's rebate program.
AEC proposes to conduct a three-part feasibility study to evaluate the possibility
of integrating a photovoltaic power system using the roof of the new library
building. This project could be completed after construction of the library has
been completed, and would require only one small roof penetration, preserving
the integrity of the roof, which was a major goal for the construction project.
The study would include evaluating financial incentives available for the system
as part of Phase 1 of the study. Cost for the entire study would be $15,295.00,
and each phase would be approved separately.
If Council desires to pursue installation of a photovoltaic system on the new
library building, Staff recommended authorization of Phase 1, the feasibility study
in the amount of $4,120.00, with the project manager to present the results of
that study to the City Council upon completion.
Mayor Sisk requested public comment.
