<br /> City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br /> May 2, 2006 <br /> Page 12 of 13 <br />Funding for needed technology improvements in the Council chambers including <br />a new recording system, cameras and projector will be available from the PEG <br />grant as outlined in the Comcast franchise agreement. <br />City Manager Simmons stated the ultimate goal is to remain on budget. <br />There was Council consensus. <br />LIBRARY UPDATE <br />Deputy City Manager Boyd reported on the progress of the new library. The <br />exterior of the building is almost complete. Work still remaining includes the top <br />coat for the north parking lot, building utility areas and site work such as <br />sidewalks, curb and gutter and landscaping. The interior work includes painting, <br />installation of carpets, ceilings, and millwork and built in cabinets and furniture. <br />The building's commissioning agent has met with the subcontractors to put <br />together a schedule for starting and testing the mechanical system. He has also <br />checked the under-floor for proper cleaning and sealing of mechanical ducts and <br />valves. The Library Project is scheduled for completion on June 13, with the <br />furniture installation, computer connections and move-in to occur after that date. <br />The library will be closed for month of July, reopening in August, with the <br />dedication ceremony scheduled for August 19. <br />Boyd reviewed the updated financial reports for April. Additional project <br />expenses will be incurred for the following items: Building commissioning; <br />potential building subcontractors; off-site Improvements; relocation of gas main <br />and Study for Photovoltaic Power. It is anticipated to be well below the original <br />amount for the library project. <br />Mayor Sisk suggested Staff contact the Cities of Lafayette and Boulder to advise <br />them the library will be closed and Louisville residents may use their libraries. <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br />City Attorney Light updated Council on the Hamon Lawsuit. The Court ordered <br />Hamon to re-file their claim by May 1. Hamon re-filed their claim and the City <br />Attorney will be working with Special Counsel to respond to Hamon's latest <br />complaint. Hamon did not respond to the City Attorney's request to engage in <br />settlement discussions. <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br />City Manager Simmons reported on a letter from Xcel Energy indicating their <br />intent to file an application for a temporary expansion of the Louisville <br />Compression Station. The letter also stated the Marshall site is Xcel Energy's <br />
