Walters thanked Council for this recognition and introduced members of the team. <br /> <br />Cleveland Holmes, Centaurus Student Body President, thanked Council for this <br />recognition. <br /> <br />Sisk asked to acknowledge Mark Schmidt, assistant wrestling coach. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION - NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK <br /> <br />Davidson presented Mary O'Donnell, Library Board of Trustees President, with a <br />proclamation declaring April 11-17, 1999, as National Library Week. He asked to also <br />recognize the Library Board of Trustees for their contributions. <br /> <br />O'Donnell thanked Council for this proclamation. She asked to acknowledge the Library <br />Director and staff for their incredible contributions to the success of the library. She <br />thanked Council for their support and introduced Carol Purfurst, Children's Librarian. <br /> <br />Carol Purfurst, Children's Librarian, provided a brief review of the library activities for <br />youth during the month of April. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION - ARBOR WEEK <br /> <br />Davidson presented Craig Jones, Colorado State Forestry Service, with a proclamation <br />declaring April 17, 1999, as Arbor Day. <br /> <br />Craig Jones, ~tated that Louisville has a tradition of planting trees and a strong urban <br />forestry program for many years. He commended August Yoko and Leon Wurl, for <br />helping to start the program, and Steve Baysinger, for helping to keep the program alive. <br />He also recognized Rob Teetzel for his urban forestry efforts for the City of Louisville <br />for the past twenty years. He stated that there are only a few cities in Colorado who have <br />received the Tree City, U.S.A. award more than the eighteen years that Louisville has. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION - INTERNATIONAL BUILDING SAFETY WEEK <br /> <br />Davidson presented Tom Talboom, Chief Building Official, with a proclamation <br />declaring April 4 - 10, 1999, as International Building Safety Week. <br /> <br />Talboom invited everyone to enter the drawings for smoke detectors, carbon monoxide <br />detectors, egress ladders, and kitchen fire extinguishers that the City of Louisville and the <br />Louisville Fire Protection District will be giving away during International Building <br />Safety Week. <br /> <br /> <br />
