WATER TREATMENT PLANT WINS TOP AWARD <br />The City's Sid Copeland Water Treatment Plant (WTP) <br />has undergone dramatic changes over the past few <br />years, shifting towards data collection and analysis to <br />make informed process decisions and improvements. <br />Due to these accomplishments, the plant won an <br />award from the Rocky Mountain Section of the <br />America Water Works Association for Outstanding <br />Water Treatment Plant, surpassing other applicants <br />across Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico. <br />The team is not only meeting state requirements, but <br />is also achieving those goals in the most efficient way <br />possible by creating a high performing work <br />environment through data use. <br />Noteworthy accomplishments include aggressive <br />algae control program, which has resulted in no taste <br />or odor complaints in the last 4 years. <br />Every single member of the WTP team has a <br />passion for the industry and cares greatly about doing <br />everything in their power to provide Louisville <br />residents with safe, high -quality water. <br />Visit LouisvilleCO.gov/Water to find out more about <br />Louisville's water. <br />MCCASLIN UNDERPASS ART UNVEILED IN JULY <br />The new public art, sponsored by the Louisville <br />Cultural Council, for the McCaslin Blvd <br />Pedestrian Underpass will be unveiled at a ribbon <br />cutting ceremony on July 10 at 10 AM. Refreshments <br />and kid -friendly activities will be provided and the <br />community is invited to attend. <br />Artists Rita Vali and Robyn Rathweg have been been <br />busy creating an immersive, experiential mosaic tile <br />mural that depicts the underground ecosystem. Visit LouisvilleCO.gov/PublicArt <br />for details. <br />TEMPORARY MAIN STREET CLOSURE <br />To continue to support our downtown restaurants <br />during this challenging time, City Council voted to <br />resume outdoor dining on a temporarily closed <br />Main Street. <br />Until November 1, Main Street between Walnut and <br />Elm is closed to vehicular traffic - the cross streets <br />remain open. <br />Please be respectful of the Old Town neighbors and <br />walk or bike to your favorite shops to help reduce the <br />negative impacts of the closure. <br />Visit LouisvilleCO.gov/SupportLocal to find out more <br />about outdoor dining in Louisville. <br />REPUBLIC BULK ITEM CURBSIDE EVENTS <br />Republic customers can dispose of up to 5 bulk items <br />as part of this summer's Bulk Curbside Pick Up Events. <br />Tuesday and Wednesday Customers: Sat, Aug 21 <br />Materials in street/gutter area by 7 AM <br />Thursday and Friday Customers: Sat, Aug 28 <br />Materials in street/gutter area by 7 AM <br />Bulk items are defined as items put out for curbside <br />collection that are not in a container and do not fit in <br />a 32-gallon cart (up to 5 items). The following will NOT <br />be collected: <br />• Freon containing appliances <br />• Electronic items <br />• Hazardous waste <br />Visit LouisvilleCO.gov/Republic for more details about <br />bulk items or call Republic's Louisville Customer <br />Service 303.286.5400. <br />RAILROAD QUIET ZONES <br />Work on Louisville's Railroad Quiet Zones began in <br />May and is anticipated to be complete by the first <br />quarter of 2022. <br />The City has been working with BNSF Railway and <br />regulatory agencies over the last several years for <br />approval of at -grade highway -rail crossing <br />improvements to establish Railroad Quiet Zones at <br />Dillon Road, Pine Street, Griffith Street, and <br />South Boulder Road. <br />A Railroad Quiet Zone is a section of rail line that <br />contains one or more consecutive public crossings at <br />which locomotive horns are not routinely sounded. <br />Visit LouisvilleCO.gov/RailroadQuietZones for project <br />details and background.
