•
EQUITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
As we move into the holiday season, we'd like to
acknowledge the multitude of different cultural
traditions and observances that occur in these coming
months. Whether you celebrate Yule, Winter Solstice,
Christmas, Diwali, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Bodhi Day,
Lunar New Year, or perhaps none of these, the City of
Louisville wishes you a happy holiday.
In January, we'll celebrate our Louisville Police
Department on Jan. 9 for National Law Enforcement
Appreciation Day. We recognize the challenges that
come with answering this call to public service, and thank
our law enforcement professionals for their dedication
and sacrifice. On Jan. 15, the City commemorates the
life of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Known
for his commitment to the transformation of American
society through nonviolent activism, King's legacy
remains influential today. Take this opportunity to revisit
and reflect on his "I Have a Dream" speech. On Jan. 27,
we honor the victims and survivors of the Holocaust on
International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
February marks Black History Month. This is a time to
celebrate and highlight the achievements of the Black
community throughout our nation's history. It is also a
time to reflect on the misconceptions and wrongdoings
of the past, including the silencing of conversations
about Black experiences in the United States. The first
Friday in February also marks Lunar New Year, which
became an observed state holiday in Colorado in 2023.
Asian American communities from the past, present,
and future will be celebrated for generations to come.
ADVISORY BIKE LANES
Louisville has taken a significant step to enhance biking
safety and accessibility by introducing advisory bike
lanes. In November, these innovative bike lanes were
installed on Polk Avenue and Dahlia Street, running
from Pine Street to Cherry Street. Advisory bike lanes
mark a shift toward shared road usage, prioritizing equal
access for bicycles, motorists, and pedestrians.
Advisory bike lanes reallocate traffic patterns for a safer,
more inclusive road experience. These lanes feature
a single center lane for two-way motorist traffic with
dashed bicycle lanes on each side, giving priority to
bicyclists and allowing for flexible adaptation to traffic
conditions. Advisory bike lanes aim to reduce vehicle
speeds, create a defined space for bicycles, maintain
parking, and provide a buffer for cyclist safety.
LCityof
Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
749 Main Street info@LouisvilleCO.gov
Louisville, CO 80027 LouisvilleCO.gov
Emergency 911
Non -Emergency Dispatch 303.441.4444
City Hall 303.666.6565
Building Safety Division 303.335.4584
Business Licensing & Sales Tax 303.335.4514
City Manager's Office 303.335.4533
Arts & Events 303.335.4581
Economic Vitality 303.335.4531
Finance Department 303.335.4500
Human Resources 303.335.4722
Parks & Recreation 303.335.4735
Planning Department 303.335.4592
Public Works & Utilities 303.335.4608
Water Meters & Sewers 303.335.4750
Snow Plowing & Streets 303.335.4750
Utility Billing 303.335.4501
Coal Creek Golf Course 303.666.7888
Historical Museum 303.335.4850
Library 303.335.4849
Memory Square Pool 303.666.7909
Municipal Court 303.335.4653
Police Department 303.666.6531
Recreation & Senior Center 303.666.7400
The City has also implemented additional projects this
fall to emphasize safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and
drivers, such as installing bike queue boxes on Dahlia
Street at Cherry Street. These changes emphasize
creating a more inclusive road experience and also
reflect the city's commitment to providing a safe, well -
maintained, and efficient multimodal transportation
system at a reasonable cost.
Advisory bike lanes are a pilot project, and the City will
conduct extensive outreach to teach people how to
share the road with advisory bike lanes and evaluate
traffic speeds, safety, travel behavior, and perceptions
before and after the project.
