SUSTAINABILITY
0
SUSTAINABILITY SPOTLIGHT
As seasons change again, the City's Sustainability Division
would like to share some opportunities and updates with
the community.
Community Decarbonization Plan
The City has partnered with Xcel's Partners in Energy
team and a community stakeholder group to develop
Louisville's Community Decarbonization Plan. This plan
outlines an implementable framework for residential
and commercial decarbonization through transportation
electrification, energy supply, and building efficiency
and electrification.
The plan represents collective perspectives of
Louisville business representatives, Louisville residents,
community group members, topic experts, and members
of historically underrepresented groups. This plan was
developed by everyone to ensure that the varied needs
and hopes of the community are represented. The plan
will guide decisions and have a real -world impact on the
City of Louisville's decarbonization vision, strategies,
and goals.
The Plan's strategies will help Louisville achieve its
2030 climate goals through the decarbonization of
buildings, transportation (via electrification), and energy
supply. This plan will include:
► A summary of baseline conditions, to inform the
decarbonization roadmap
► An aspirational vision that reflects the community's
collective decarbonization priorities
► Measurable decarbonization goals that build upon
Louisville's Climate Action Goals Dashboard
► Strategic approach to achieving Louisville's goals
► Measurable targets to evaluate strategy
implementation progress
Available now! Energy efficiency and electrification
rebates for existing homes
We're excited to share that the City has teamed up
with Boulder County's EnergySmart program to offer
residents fantastic rebates on energy efficiency and
electric appliance upgrades in existing homes.
Rebates for efficiency and electric appliances fall into
two categories: Stand Alone and Fuel Switching. You
can benefit from both! Stand Alone covers items like
heat pumps, insulation, and air sealing. If you remove a
natural gas furnace, water heater, or stove during your
project, you can also receive Fuel Switching rebates.
This means saving money while using less energy in
your home.
Rebates are available now on a first come, first served
basis. To get started, connect with an Energy Advisor at
Boulder County EnergySmart by calling (303) 544-1000
or by emailing Info4EnergySmartYes.com. The Energy
Advisor will guide you through the Louisville rebates
available for your home project and connect you with
additional Xcel Energy, state and federal rebates and
tax credits that may also be applied.
Internal Decarbonization Plan
On October 10, 2023, Louisville's City Council adopted
the Internal Decarbonization Plan, a strategic roadmap
for decarbonization of municipal buildings, fleet and
equipment by 2040. The City's goal of the project is
to reduce carbon emissions, improve climate resiliency
and provide a decarbonization framework for its
residents and businesses, both locally and regionally.
To learn more and read the plan,
visit LouisvilleCO.gov/Internal
Decarbonization Plan OR scan
this OR code.
Page 4 • Winter 2023-24
COL-2023-CU-Winter-Working_F.indd 4
11/14/23 10:07 AM
