City Council <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> February 1, 2011 <br /> Page 3 of 11 <br /> Metro and $90 million to the 1JS 36 BRT Project. The $90 million combined with <br /> commitments for funding from TIGER Grants, DRCOG, CDOT and RTD, the project <br /> would provide a dedicated BRT /HOT /HOV lane in either direction on US 36 to <br /> Interlocken. The RTD Board will confirm the funding at their February 22 meeting. He <br /> noted the consent agenda included a Resolution approving the 2011 Lobbyist Contract. <br /> Mayor Sisk and Deputy City Manager Balser will return to Washington on February 15 <br /> to request federal funding for the US 36 Project. <br /> In the second part of the RTD Meeting there was a recommendation for a .2% of one <br /> percent sales tax increase to fund 85% to 95% of the full buildout of FasTracks. <br /> However, the Northwest Rail would not start until 2022, with completion in 2027. The <br /> Metro Mayors Caucus met and will continue to meet bi- monthly, to build consensus on a <br /> .35% to .4% of one percent sales tax increase to complete the entire project. He <br /> stressed there is a lot of support for the .4% of one percent sales tax increase. <br /> Mayor Sisk thanked and congratulated the Louisville Chamber of Commerce on the <br /> success of their annual banquet. He complimented Shelley Angell and her Staff. <br /> CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> City Manager Fleming reported he and the Directors recently conducted an emergency <br /> management exercise (tabletop exercise), which involved discussion on what would <br /> happen if a train derailed and a tanker car released toxic material. They discussed <br /> various protocols. The intent was to determine whether the City is prepared for such <br /> emergencies. The next step would be an actual simulation exercise. He noted the City <br /> now has emergency sirens to alert the residents and give them instructions on how to <br /> respond. <br /> Mayor Sisk announced a joint meeting of City Council, BRAD and Louisville <br /> Revitalization Commission will be held on Monday, February 6, at 8:00 a.m., in the <br /> Library Conference Room. The meeting will include discussion on the current purchase <br /> by private interests of the concrete plant on Highway 42. <br /> REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> ORDINANCE No. 1588, SERIES 2011 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION <br /> 2.60.020 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING THE <br /> COMMENCEMENT DATE FOR PLANNING COMMISSION TERMS OF OFFICE 2nd <br /> Reading Public Hearing <br /> Mayor Sisk requested a City Attorney introduction. <br /> City Attorney Light read Ordinance No. 1588, Series 2011. <br />
