<br /> operation of the permitted use. <br /> 17.24.050 Measurement of Gross Surface <br /> Area and Height of Sign <br /> A. The entire area within a single continuous perimeter <br /> enclosing the extreme limits of such sign including that portion of <br /> the sign structure which is visible and viewed in the same plane as <br /> the sign face and which either: <br /> a. Exceeds 50% of the area of the sign face; or, <br /> b. Is made an integral part or background of the <br /> display; shall be included in computing the <br /> total sign area. <br /> B. The gross area of a sign shall be measured only on one <br /> side of such sign. <br /> C. For computing the area of any wall sign which consists <br /> of letters mounted or painted on a wall, the area shall be deemed to <br /> be the area of the smallest rectangular figure which can encompass all <br /> of the letters. <br /> D. Where three-dimensional figures are used a$ signs, the <br /> area shall be the total area, as projected on a vertical plan, of each <br /> side of the figure which is visible beyond the boundarie$ of the lot <br /> upon which the figure is located. For purposes of this regulation, a <br /> figure shall be considered to have not less than one nor more than <br /> four sides, and the number of sides to be measured shall be determined <br /> by the intended location and visibility of the figure. <br /> E. On corner and double-frontage lots, each building <br /> frontage that abuts a street, highway, private drives, or alley shall <br /> be considered a separate building frontage. <br /> F. Sign height shall be measured from average ground level <br /> at the base of or below the sign to the highest element of the sign. <br /> 17.24.060 Building and Electrical Codes Applicable <br /> All signs must conform to the regulations and design <br /> standards of the Building Code of the City of Louisville and all other <br /> applicable codes. Wiring of all electrical signs must conform to the <br /> Electrical Code of the City of Louisville. <br /> 17.24.070 General Requirements <br /> A. No sign shall be attached to a tree or utility pole <br /> whether on public or private property. <br /> B. No sign shall be maintained at any location where by <br /> -10- <br />
