After long discussion,the Commission unanimouslydecidedto <br />accept this artifact which has so many memories attached to it andwhich <br />helps interpret women’s history inLouisville, despite the limited storage <br />space currently available at the Museum. Beth suggested that the Museum <br />collectstories associated with it as part of accession.Bridget stated that <br />she would arrange for the delivery of the machineand the signingof the <br />Deed of Gift to be presented for approval at the next meeting. <br />Museum Coordinator’s Report: <br />2.Supplementing her written report, Bridget invited <br />Commission members to attend the upcoming program “Energy Upgrades to <br />Historic Buildings” being cosponsored by the Museum and stated that the next <br />Brown Bag presentation will be on Tuesday, June 7 with the topic of “Louisville <br />Celebrations: Holidays, Parades, & Festivals.” <br />3.Bridget asked Commission members to sign up for shiftsto talk with visitorsat the <br />A Taste of Louisville. <br />Museum duringPat will coordinate making pizzelles. <br />Jennifer volunteered to coordinate Commission members signing up.Last year <br />saw about 110 visitors to the Museum. <br />th <br />Museum’s 25anniversary <br />4.The is coming up; the Tomeo House first openedon <br />Labor Day weekend in 1986. A few things are already being planned to <br />commemoratethis event. Bridget stated that she hoped that the Brown Bag in <br />August could include people who actually started the Museum so that we can ask <br />them how they made it happen.Pat and Bridget will coordinate asking the Museum <br />founders to attend. Bridget also stated that Sean and Lynn are willing to again <br />represent the Museum in the Labor Day Parade, possibly as old time baseball <br />players. Bridget noted that the Museum will already be open onthe Saturday of <br />Labor Day Weekend.A banner commemorating the anniversary will be <br />researched,ordered,and displayed along the side of the Museum.Brian <br />Chamberlin stated that he is willing to help with this. The conversation turned to <br />whether there should be a reception on the Museum campus as well, with the <br />Library meeting room reserved as a backup in case of rain. Commission members <br />stated that they would like to decide this at the next meeting. <br />Preliminary Discussion of Revised Commission Bylaws <br />D.:A draft of revised bylaws went <br />out in the meeting packetalong with a copy of the current bylaws. Bridget explained that <br />the City has requested that all boards and commissionsupdate their bylaws and that they <br />use a template thatthe City has provided.Among other things, the newbylaws have been <br />updated to include Louisville’s open government provisions.Also, it was noted that the draft <br />for this particular Commission sets out the dual roles of the Commission to reflect that it is <br />both an advisory board and a 501c3 fundraising board. Commission members expressed <br />thatit was somewhat difficult to determine what had been changed due to the format of the <br /> <br />
