<br />Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 21, 2007 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br />if there are alternative locations on the Lastoka parcel that could host the cabins that <br />would be away from the land marked area. She added her desire to help to furnish the <br />cabins and volunteer her time if need be. <br /> <br />Muckle added her support for moving the cabins and creating interpretive sites. Muckle <br />asked about the Historic Structure Assessment (HSA) process and the planned use of <br />the land marked buildings in the future. Beam reported the HSA is almost complete and <br />noted the plans to rehabilitate the buildings to be used as a part of the proposed market <br />farm. <br /> <br />Koopman added that there are plans for an interpretive trail through the Ian <br />for people to view the structures and learn about the history. <br /> <br /> <br />Muth noted some concern about whether the creation on these ne <br />would diminish or at least compete with the City's museum for attenti <br />for City resources. <br /> <br />Barb Hesson, resident, voiced her thought that the City c <br />interpretation of our mining history and additional sites w <br />She stated her opposition to the use of the cabins as tool she <br /> <br /> <br />not have too much <br />a benefit to the City. <br /> <br />Muth will work with the staff of Boulder County an .ette to determine if a site further <br />south on the Lastoka property is feasible. Muth ad concern that the City is <br />currently in a stance of "no new programs" and this ould fall under that category in <br />which case there are budget ramifications and procedures that may apply. <br /> <br />In addition, there was discussion of <br />Harney-Lastoka Master Plan and if <br />the approval of the three communitie <br /> <br /> <br />is would affect the previously approved <br />. terpretive sites to the parcel would require <br />ed bodies. <br /> <br />1934 Water Plant Buildin t Steps <br />Muth reported that a pro lition review will be required on the property even <br />though members hav scussed the property as a group. That demolition <br />review will start with tH committee process as all other demolition reviews do. <br />Should this be taken to a blic hearing of the Commission it will be done so at the April <br />18 meeting after appropriate notice. <br /> <br /> <br />Mine Mar gn <br />Koertje brou ctures of historical markers from his travels. Members picked some <br />they felt would et the needs of this project. Muth will discuss sign code regulations <br />with the Planning Staff to determine if these ideas would work. She will bring additional <br />information to the April meeting. <br /> <br />Preservation Recognition Awards <br />Lewis reminded members that May is Historic Preservation Month and the Commission <br />had previously discussed presenting awards for preservation projects. <br /> <br />Muth noted that the awards will be presented at the May 15 City Council meeting. <br />
