Arts & Humanities Council
Agenda
DATE
Page 3 of6

X. Don handed out East County Arts Alive (aka Village Arts)
feasibility study
A. Study funded by City of Louisville - Leland Consulting
B. Wanted medium size auditorium-500-800 seats
C. Nicole Jeffers, president, was unable to get the other east
county cities on board and changed the effort to Village Arts, hoping
to build an Arts Village within a residential community with taxes
from the Village going to the cultural center near Storage Tech.
Louisville residents didn't support the effort, and the whole plan
died.
D. The study is evidence that work has already been done in
this area.

XI. Status of Arts infrastructure in Louisville & LCC suggestions
A. Louisville has a vibrant Arts community
B. No dance company here because no space is appropriate
(floors, lights)
C. Theatre groups forced to move large productions and $ out
of town.
D. Suggestion to expand current Arts Center-would really
need to be in addition to a 500-800 seat theatre-facility won't fulfill
the real needs.
E. Suggestion to build a new arts center containing state of the
art equipment and medium seating (500-800)

F. Don handed out a list of available performance seating in
Boulder area. Needed is accessible space in the mid-range between
the Dairy and Macky. (Schools are not available during the school
year. )
G. We must be careful what we build. A huge performance
facility costs a fortune and requires bringing in outside artists to
support it, making its cost out of the range of the local artists.
