CITY OF LOUISVillE. CITY MANAGER

possible amendments to the City's
Comprehensive Plan.

Continued Financial Stability
Louisville, like many Colorado cities, continues
to face limited revenue growth to keep pace
with the cost of doing
business and providing
quality services that citizens
have grown to expect. The
City Council remains
concerned about the City's
ability to maintain the
current level of public
services over the long-term
as they have used one time
dollars to bridge funding
gaps in the last several
budgets. The new City Manager will be
expected to assure the financial stability of the
City through active comprehensive long-term
financial planning and management. The new
City Manager will also make recommendations
regarding strategies that will maintalin a strong
financial foundation for the City.

~ Future re-development of the 400 acre
property owned by Sun Microsystems who
recently decided to close the majority of the
Louisville campus and consolidate their
operations.

~ The City has identified an
urban renewal area
located east of the railroad
tracks and adjacent to the
downtown. The City and
citizenry will need to work
closely with potential
applicants to ensure that
redevelopment proposals
are consistent with the
character of the downtown
and that changes reflect
Louisville's community vision.

Economic Development
The City of Louisville actively participates in
economic development activities tlhrough the
BRAD Committee (Business Retl~ntion and
Development). The BRAD Committee is a
group of Louisville professionals, City Council
members, and City staff dedicated to making
Louisville a destination for business.

Key economic issues facing the Cilty now and
into the future include:

~ Historic Downtown Louisville is the heart of
the City. 100 year old wooden buildings
line Main and Front Streets and are home
to restaurants, unique retail, and a variety
of professional services. Attention needs to
be paid to business retention, cultivating
retailers compatible with Louisville, and
maintaining the character and improving
the appearance of downtown. The future of
Historic Downtown includes a station on a
commuter train line. that will provide local
residents alternative transportation to
Denver and Boulder and bring new visitors
to Louisville.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The desired candidate will be expected to build
upon the positive Council relations and integrity
that the previous City Manager established in
his long tenure with the City. The candidate
will be a talented municipal manager and
administrative leader who understands all
aspects of city government. This person will
have excellent delegation skills while holding
staff accountable.

The City Council is seeking a City Manager
who is approachable and encourages open
communication based on an environment of
trust and integrity. The selected candidate will
be able to support policy and legislative
decisions by the City Council and provide
sound information and ability to articulate
issues and options to help them make informed
decisions. Candidates should have a proven
track record of delivering results, building
accountability for staff and creating a positive
working environment of teamwork and
innovation.

The desired candidate will be recognized for
building consensus and providing management
leadership to the City staff and will not be
afraid to make the tough decisions when
needed. The successful candidate will be
politically astute and demonstrate an

Page 4
