HistoricalCommission <br />Minutes <br />August 17, 2011 <br />Page 3of 3 <br />A.Treasurer’s Budget:Dave Ferguson <br />Dave presented the following report: <br />Previous Balance$9161.90 <br />Expenses$1,403.00 <br />Receipts$214.50 <br />CD$25,093.67 <br />Savings$12,925.556 <br />Checking$7,973.40 <br />Total$45,992.62 <br />The CD comes up for renewal in September and the Commissionvoted to let the <br />CD renew. <br />The Commissionapproved the Treasurer’s report. <br />B.Membership statistics. <br />There were no additional questions. <br />C.Discussion/Approval of Expenses. <br />1. <br />Update on Commission donation to pay for replacement plants at the Museum <br />campus: Kathy Kron oversaw the purchase and planting by volunteers who put in <br />70 plants at a total cost of $759.75. Friends of the Arboretum donated $150 toward <br />this project and the Louisville Historical Commission funded the remaining balance <br />ofabout$608.00. <br />2. <br />The Oral History Association has its national conference in Denver this October. <br />Bridget Bacon requested that she be able to use funds for the Oral History <br />Program previously approved by the Commission in order to pay forthe attendance <br />at the conference bytwo volunteers from the Museum’s program. She noted that <br />Diane Marino, who is both a Commission member and an oral history interviewer, <br />recommended this action because of this unique opportunity and because of the <br />benefits to our program. After discussion,the Commissionagreed that it would be <br />to the benefit of the Oral History Programto make this expenditure and voted to <br />spend up to $160 for eachof twovolunteersto attend the conferencefor a total of <br />$320. <br />D.Discussion –fundraising idea related to car stickers. <br />The idea is to produce and sell <br />European-style oval auto stickers for Louisville. Currently,the Commissiondoes not have <br />the ability to sellthings on-line, which diminishes our efficiency as a sales outlet. It was <br />pointed out that sales of stickers would likely need tobe conductedby Commission <br />membersat booths at Farmer’s Markets and similar events. No decision was made. <br />E.Chairperson’s report <br />. Dan sent out his primer on soliciting Business Sponsorships. He <br />said that Business SponsorsStewartArchitecture, Louisville Auto and Bob Muckle have <br />recently renewed,with BobMuckle renewingfor twoyears.Bouldertech has indicated that <br />it willrenewits Sponsorshipsoon. <br />F.Close Fundraising Board Meeting and Adjourn. <br />The meeting adjourned at 8:45. <br /> <br />
