The Coal Creek Golf Course is operated as an Enterprise <br />Fund and is not subsidized by City taxes. The management fee to Western Golf <br />is paid for from golf course revenues, which totaled $1,908,926 in 2006. After <br />accounting for operating expemses, management fees and the debt service <br />payment, Coal Creek Golf Course made a profit of approximately $64,000 in <br />2006. This money is traditionally put directly back into the golf course to help pay <br />for necessary capital improvements on the course and clubhouse. In 2006 <br />Western Golf Properties and their local staff were very responsive to City staff <br />issues and made great strides in improving customer service, golf programs and <br />course quality. Staff recommends extending their management contract for a <br />three year period. Robson introduced the President and CEO of Western Golf <br />Properties, Mr. Bobby Heath, who described their services. <br /> <br />Bobby Heath presented a pOltfolio of Western Golf Properties and stated he was <br />available to respond to Coundl questions. He explained Western Golf Properties <br />is 21 years old and manages courses across the country. He noted they are not <br />developers or owners of golf courses. They form partnerships with owners, and <br />developers, they do not compete with their partners, and are a 3rd party golf <br />course manager. He addressed the expense savings program, where national <br />accounts programs handle all facets of the golf business. He stated the loyalty <br />program Peak Player Club has been very successful. They evaluate the golf <br />courses they manage and Coal Creek Golf Course receives very high marks. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown commended Western Golf Properties for their <br />management of the Coal Creek Golf Course. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk reported the Finance Committee reviewed the agreement and <br />supports the three-year extension. He commended the management of Eric <br />Jensen and the Coal Creek Golf Course staff members. He requested a <br />program be considered for junior golfers at the Coal Creek Golf Course. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council member Sackett moved to approve the Coal Creek Golf <br />Course Management Contract three-year extension with Western Golf <br />Properties, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Brown. Roll call vote was taken.
