<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 15, 2007 <br />Page 10 of 13 <br /> <br />Members of BRaD, the Downtown Business Association, the Chamber of <br />Commerce and staff, will collaborate on this effort to ensure information is <br />distributed to businesses and residents. The City is in the process of getting bids <br />from local vendors for marketing services including the design of a logo, tagline, <br />marketing advice and ideas for the campaign. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown suggested the City take bids from marketing firms to <br />assist in formulating an assertive plan for marketing Louisville businesses and <br />educating the citizens to buy locally. <br /> <br />Council member Clabots sug!gested partnering with the Chamber and the local <br />business community. <br /> <br />Council member Yarnell state~d the goal is to utilize the summer months to <br />promote Louisville businesses. <br /> <br />Becky Hogan, EDge, Consulting, 52 Steele Street, Denver, CO addressed the <br />options available to Council. She explained a public relations campaign raises <br />the awareness of Louisville businesses, while a marketing strategy involves a <br />formal RFP, and could entail a five-year plan. <br /> <br />Council member Marsella agreed a long-term plan would be more beneficial, but <br />could be more costly. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk suggested Council request the BRaD Committee consider an RFP for <br />a marketing firm and present a recommendation to the Council at the July 2, <br />2007 meeting. There was Council consensus. <br /> <br />MAY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIEFING - BECKY HOGAN, EDge <br />CONSULTING <br /> <br />Becky Hogan, EDge Consulting, 52 Steele Street, Denver, updated Council on <br />May's economic development. The month's activities included the Shop <br />Louisville Campaign; touring the CTC Center and the development activity at the <br />Center and working with International Council of Shopping Center (ICSC) on <br />arrangements and appointmemts. Mayor Sisk, Interim City Manager Balser and <br />Ms Hogan will attend the ICSC Conference. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE No. 1519, SERIES 2007 - AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A NEW <br />SECTION 17.12.055 OF THE lOUISVlllE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING <br />PRESERVATION ZONING INCENTIVES FOR THE OLD TOWN OVERLAY <br />DISTRICT AND AMENDING SECTION 17.12.050 OF THE lOUISVlllE <br />
