<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 15, 2007 <br />Page 9 of 13 <br /> <br />Health Park Drive Resurface; South Polk Avenue, West Dahlia Street, South <br />Madison Avenue Hot Chip Selal; Wastewater Treatment Plant Asphalt Patching <br />and Various Locations Concnste Replacement <br /> <br />Staff recommended authorization to complete the entire project and expects the <br />overage of $160,000 to be funded from South Boulder Road/Highway 42 and <br />Dillon Road - 96th St to 104th budget balances. Total funding for the street <br />portion of the project is $910,000. The Street Reconstruction cost from the bid is <br />$801,400. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council member Yarnell moved to Award Bid for the 2007 Street <br />Reconstruction to Premier Paving Inc. for $921,182.35, seconded by Council <br />member Clabots. <br /> <br />City Attorney Light suggested a friendly amendment to authorize Staff to execute <br />change orders up to $25,000 in additional work and project contingency. <br />Council members Yarnell and Clabots accepted the amendment. <br /> <br />VOTE: Roll call vote was tak,en. The motion carried by a vote of 7-0. <br /> <br />SHOP LOUISVILLE CAMPAIGN FUNDING REQUEST <br /> <br />Community Facilitator Muth explained the Business Retention and Development <br />Committee (BRaD) has pursued ideas for a Shop Louisville Campaign. The <br />purpose of the campaign is to encourage support of local businesses and <br />educate residents about the liink between shopping locally and funding City <br />services. The campaign will help shoppers identify which businesses are in <br />Louisville and provide businesses and residents with information about the <br />benefits of shopping locally. The total budget for the campaign should not exceed <br />$10,000 and will come from BRaD's existing budget. The campaign is anticipated <br />to begin late June, early July and cover the major events happening in Louisville <br />over the summer <br /> <br />The campaign is targeted to two audiences: Louisville businesses- participation <br />and cooperation in the branding effort throughout the City and overall <br />encouragement to support 10Gal businesses in the City and Louisville residents. <br />This audience is the target of the Shop Louisville message. The campaign will <br />begin in June or July of 2007. Promotional materials will be distributed <br />throughout the City's summer events. The campaign elements will consist of <br />several promotional activities and communication methods: Promotional <br />materials which would be located in local businesses; Direct outreach to <br />residents at major events hosted in Louisville; Targeted advertising; Media <br />relations; Web promotion and City sponsored communications. <br />
