He noted they work very closely with the Boulder County <br />Health Department and with the Colorado Department of Public Health. <br /> <br />Mike Weissmann, Ph.D., Entomologist, Colorado Mosquito Control, stressed the <br />importance of monitoring the iindicators of mosquito and WNV. He noted 2003 <br />year was a bad year for West Nile Virus however, 2006 was a moderate year. <br /> <br />Mr. Malinowski urged the public to take the proper precautions: Use DEET <br />enhanced insect repellant; dmss in long sleeves and pants; avoid the outdoors at <br />dusk and dawn, and drain standing water outside your home. <br /> <br />MEMBERSHIP REQUEST -- ROCKY MOUNTAIN CLIMATE ORGANIZATION <br /> <br />At the June 5, 2007 City Council meeting, Council discussed membership dues <br />for the Rocky Mountain Climate Organization. The different tiers of annual dues <br />payments for an organization under 250 employees are $500, $1,000 or $2,000. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown recommended the City participate in the Rocky Mountain <br />Climate Organization at the $1,000 level. <br /> <br />MOTION: Mayor Pro Tem Brown moved the City participate in the Rocky <br />Mountain Climate Organization at the $1,000 level, or at minimum at a $500 <br />level, to be taken from the Council Contingency Fund, with authorization for the <br />Mayor to make a determination of the final contribution amount. Council member <br />Muckle seconded the motion. Roll call vote was taken. The motion carried by a <br />vote of 6-0. Absent: Council member Marsella. <br /> <br />SENIOR TAX REBATE - CHOICE OF PROCEEDING WITH ONE OF TWO <br />ORDINANCES <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a City Attorney introduction. <br /> <br />City Attorney Light read Ordinances No. 1515 and 1521, Series 2007. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Deputy City Clerk Hanson explained the State of Colorado recently re-instated <br />the Senior Property Tax Homestead Exemption to provide relief for seniors who <br />have owned and lived in their homes for 10 years or more. Funding had been <br />suspended at the state level but has returned for the assessment year 2006 <br />payable in the year 2007. Qualifying seniors could obtain a property tax <br />exemption of up to $613.00 dollars with this program. In 1973, the City of <br />Louisville passed Ordinance INo. 430, which provided a cash rebate of the City's <br />mill levy to citizens of LouisvHle over the age of 65 who qualified. In 2004, the <br />City approved with OrdinanCE! No. 1459 a cap on the rebate at a homeowner <br />
