<br />public nuisance or hazard to life or which will prevent entry into <br /> <br />sewers for their maintenance and repair. <br /> <br />(13) Any water or waste that contains more than 10 parts per <br /> <br />million by weight of the following gases; sulphur dioxide, or oxides of <br /> <br />nitrogen. <br /> <br />(14) Any radioactive material, including but not limited to, <br /> <br />long half-life (over 100 days) radioactive isotopes, material containing <br /> <br />radioactive .nuc1eoids, without special permit. <br /> <br />(15) Any sulfidE~s in excess of 1.0 part per million by <br /> <br />weight of S. <br /> <br />(16) Any ammonia-nitrogen in excess of 5.0 parts per million <br /> <br />by weight as N. <br /> <br />(17) Any waters or wastes containing a toxic or poisonous sub- <br /> <br />stance in sufficient quantity to injure or interfere with any sewage <br /> <br />treatment process, constitute a hazard to humans or animals, or create <br /> <br />any hazard in the stream rE~ceiving the sewage treatment plant effluent, <br /> <br />shall not be discharged to any public sanitary sewer. Such wastes may be <br /> <br />allowed to be discharged into the public sanitary sewers in such amounts <br /> <br />as will not interfere with the proper management of the sewage works. <br /> <br />As experience of information may indicate, the standards as devised may <br /> <br />be adjusted either upward or downward or standards may be adopted for new <br /> <br />materials. <br /> <br />The following standards for toxic substances are indicated as <br /> <br />permissible average concentrations received in the raw sewage flow at <br /> <br />the sewage treatment plant influent based on 24-hour proportionate <br /> <br />composite representative samples.
