Bill Simmons, City Administrator reminded Council that on Monday, February 21, 2000, <br />from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Louisville Library, there will be an open house on the <br />proposed 96th Street/Highway 42 connection would be discussed. He asked Council to <br />review the evaluation spreadsheets given out at the meeting. <br /> <br />Simmons noted that Staff is currently working on scheduling the first meeting of the <br />Urban Wildlife Task Force. They are also working on a Youth Taskforce, with input <br />from various agencies such as Parks and Recreation, the School Resource Officers, and <br />the Library. <br /> <br />Simmons reviewed the discussion relative to the Highway 42 Corridor Study, which <br />includes the area north of South Boulder Road. He noted that there is already a general <br />development plan for the property north of Highway 42 and that there appears to be two <br />different audiences Staff is trying to reach. Initially the study was to highlight the <br />corridor and the industrial zone along the west side of Highway 42. Staff would like to <br />proceed with that plan. <br /> <br />Simmons stated that Staff must also address the Northwest Parkway Agreement, <br />including commercial businesses, and make recommendations that would support re- <br />zoning. <br /> <br />Mayer suggested that the current limitation on PUD's may be expiring and Council may <br />wish to review this matter. <br /> <br />Simmons expressed his thanks to the Council on his annual review. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Davidson reported on a meeting he attended of the Boulder County Mayors hosted by CU <br />Boulder. At the meeting the CU Regents discussed their development plans, including <br />housing for CU staff members, traffic problems, and other concerns. <br /> <br />Davidson also reported on a proposed Mayor's meeting to discuss turnpike issues. He <br />stated that State and Federal governments would not provide assistance and the . <br />municipalities along the turnpike including Broomfield, Superior, Boulder and <br />Westminster must address these problem of congestion. <br /> <br />Mayer expressed his thanks for street sweeping, and expressed his thanks to Public <br />Works Director Tom Phare and the City Crew. <br /> <br />Sisk, as a member of the Senior Advisory Board, shared a survey with the City Council. <br />The survey projected an increase in the number of senior citizens that will be residing in <br />Louisville. He reported the seniors are pleased with the assistance of Commander Bill <br />Kingston and other officers and with their interactions and implementation of innovative <br />programs.
