<br />(5) The first Monday of September (Labor Day). <br />(6) The twelfth day of October (Columbus Day). <br />(7) The eleventh day of November (Veterans' Day). <br />(8) The fouth Thursday of November (Thanksgiving Day). <br />(9) The twenty-fifth day of December (Christmas Day). <br />(10) Election Day - General or Municipal. <br />When any holiday listed above falls on Saturday, the preceding <br />Friday shall be considered a holiday, and when any holiday listed <br />above falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be considered a <br />holiday. Except in the case of holidays specified infue Federal Act <br />providing for uniform annual observance of certain holidays in which <br />case the day of observance shall correspond to the date observed by <br />the employees of the United States Federal Government. In addition <br />to the above, any day may be designated a holiday by proclamation <br />of the mayor. <br />In order to be eligible for paid holidays, an employee must work <br />his scheduled workdays preceding and following the holiday unless he <br />has received approval of absence. <br />Section 4A-6. Holiday Work. A permanent employee or probation- <br />ary employee for the City shall be compensated for time worked on <br />holidays at the rate of double time or by equal time off as agreed <br />upon by employee and supervisor concerned. Police personnel shall <br />be granted extra vacation allowance in lieu of holidays worked as <br />provided in section 4A-1l. <br />Section 4A-7. Regular Vacat10nLeave. Every police officer and <br />permanent or probationary employee in the City service, except tempor- <br />ary and seasonal employees, shall be allowed paid vacation leave at <br />the rate of ten (10) working days or two (2) workweeks each year. <br />Vacation leave cannot be granted unless the employee shall have com- <br />pleted one full year's employment. <br /> <br />- 6 - <br />
