Louisville City Council Meeting
April 4, 2000
Page 4.

APPOINTMENTS - OPEN SPACE ADVISORY BOARD

Mayor Davidson requested that the City Attorney amend the Ordinance to provide for an
alternate member on the Open Space Advisory Board.

Davidson reviewed that there are seven positions available on the Open Space Advisory
Board: three 3-year terms, two 2-year terms, and two 1-year terms.

Davidson nominated Matt Jones, Pat Hornbostel, Susan Remington, Steven Bosley, Heidi
Ochis, Wayne Varra, Matt Jones and William Van Orman, seconded by Mayer.

Davidson called for any other nominations. Hearing none, Davidson closed the
nominations and asked for a vote. All in favor, with Keany and Levihn abstaining,

Davidson stated that when the Ordinance is modified to allow an alternate, he would
appoint Robert Muckle as alternate member.

MOTION: Davidson moved that Council appoint the following individuals: appointed
to the 3-year terms: Pat Hornbostel, Susan Remington, Steven Bosley; appointed to the 2-
year terms: Heidi Ochis, Wayne Varra; and appointed to the 1-year terms; Matt Jones,
William Van Orman, seconded by Brown. All in favor, with Levihn and Keany
abstaining.

Mayer stated that all of the 25 applicants were highly qualified. He thanked all the
candidates for their willingness to serve.

Brown commended all the candidates and stated that he was pleased with the response
and the expertise of the community. He encouraged people to continue to be interested
and involved in the development of the open space management program.

Sisk also commended and thanked all of the candidates who applied for the Open Space
Advisory Board. He stated that the decision was difficult to make because all of the
candidates were exceptional. He stated that the appointment of an alternate position
illustrates the importance that Council puts on this Board.

Davidson encouraged the candidates that were not appointed to apply for other City
boards and commissions when vacancies become available. He stated that all of the
candidates were well qualified to represent the City.

4
