Louisville City Council Meeting
May 2, 2000
Page 3

Bill Simmons, City Administrator reported on the status of the St. Louis Parish building
permits. He stated that in March of 2000, the St. Louis Parish applied for a building
permit to install soundproofing and fencing around the facilities. Simmons stated that the
building permit application was made in conformance with the recommendation of a
acoustical engineer. The permit also included a June 1, 2000 deadline, which was set by
the Catholic Archdiocese and not by the City. Simmons noted that the City would like to
have the project completed earlier. Simmons reported that Staff is currently reviewing
other St. Louis Church Parish permits.

With respect to the St. Louis Church building permits, Mayer asked that Council be kept
informed as direct inspections are made.

Mayer stated that Public Service New Century Energy Foundation recommended
educational grants for seven teachers for the upcoming year. Out of the seven, two were
Louisville Middle school teachers and Mayer stated that this was a tremendous honor.
Mayer congratulated the Staff and the teachers of the Louisville Middle School. He
asked that the City recognize the two Louisville Middle School teachers for their
outstanding work.

Keany stated that he and his wife attended a local performance of the musical "Grease" at
Monarch School, and recommended it to all those in attendance. He also stated that his
wife and two daughters had attended the local performance of "42nd Street" at Centaurus
High School and found it most enjoyable. Keany encouraged the community to support
the local schools by attending their theater productions.

PROCLAMATION - OLDER AMERICANS MONTH - MAY, 2000

Davidson proclaimed the month of May, 2000 as Older Americans Month.
