<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />April 5, 2005 <br />Page 5 of 12 <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk stated the pedestrian crossing at 10th & Canyon in Boulder is <br />elevated. He suggested if elevated crossings would slow down traffic, then the <br />option should be investigated. He favored Alternative #2. He voiced concern over <br />how emergency vehicles would address the issue of enhanced pedestrian <br />crosswalks. Public Works Director Phare stated the pedestrian crossing may <br />require additional signage stipulating pedestrian traffic must yield to emergency <br />vehicles. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council member Van Pelt moved that Council authorize Staff to <br />proceed with installation of Alternative #2 and explore raised alternatives, <br />additional crosswalk connection to the trail system, and additional signage at this <br />location. Council member Marsella seconded the motion. <br /> <br />Council member Keany offered a friendly amendment that Staff be directed to <br />investigate alternative traffic calming devices. Council members Van Pelt and <br />Marsella accepted the amendment. <br /> <br />VOTE: Roll Call vote was taken. The motion passed by a vote of 7-0. <br /> <br />Council member Keany requested ongoing updates as to the progress of the Via <br />Appia pedestrian crossing. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE No. 1463, SERIES 2005 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE <br />15 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE, ENTITLED "BUILDINGS AND <br />CONSTRUCTION," BY THE ADDITION OF CHAPTER 15.36 ENTITLED <br />"HISTORIC PRESERVATION." - 2nd reading - public hearing continued <br />from 3/1/05 (advertised Daily Camera 2/5/05 & 2/19/05) Historic Preservation <br />Commission requests a continuance to 4/19/05 <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk reported the Council had continued Ordinance No. 1463 to the April 5 <br />meeting. A number of Historic Preservation Commission members were unable <br />to attend the meeting and have requested that Ordinance No. 1463, Series 2005 <br />be continued to the April 19, 2005 meeting when all members of the Historic <br />Preservation Commission are able to attend. <br /> <br />MOTION: Mayor Sisk moved that Ordinance No. 1463, Series 2005 be <br />continued to April 19, 2005, seconded by Council member Brown. All in favor. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE No. 1466, SERIES 2005 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />CHAPTER 10.04 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE <br />MINIMUM FINES AND ADDITIONAL ENFORCEMENT MECHANISMS FOR <br />PARKING VIOLATIONS - 2nd reading - public hearing (advertised Daily <br />Camera 3/26/05) <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br />
