<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 21,2005 <br />Page 3 of 11 <br /> <br />Land Management Director Lair reported on the Trail Day Events, conducted on <br />Saturday, July 18 at the Davidson Mesa Trail. She thanked Council member <br />Brown, Mayor Sisk, Mr. Van Pelt and all the volunteers who worked on the <br />project. She also thanked the merchants of Louisville who donated water and <br />food. She recognized King Soopers, Chipotles, Safeway, Sam's Club, Quizno's <br />and Papa John's. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk commended the volunteers who worked on the trail building project. <br />He reported on the Arboretum celebration on Saturday, July 18 and encouraged <br />Louisville residents to visit the Arboretum. He reported the DBA Street Faire <br />celebrated its first Friday night event on June 17. <br /> <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION - LIGHTNING AWARENESS WEEK <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk read the proclamation, which proclaimed the week of June 19-25, <br />2005 as Lightning Awareness Week. He presented the proclamation to Lindsey <br />Kithil. <br /> <br />Lindsey Kithil, National Lightning Safety Institute, 891 N. Hoover Avenue, <br />Louisville, CO, explained the National Lightning Safety Institute is a nonprofit <br />organization started in 1993 by Richard Kithil, to provide information about <br />lightning safety issues. She explained every year lightning causes many deaths <br />and injuries. For the past five years the Louisville Recreation Center has <br />provided lightning safety information to the public. Louisville is the first city in the <br />United States to adopt comprehensive lightning safety guidelines for parks, ball <br />fields and pools, largely through the efforts of Recreation and Senior Services <br />Director Keith Williams. She thanked the Mayor and Council for proclaiming June <br />19-25 as Lightning Awareness Week in Louisville. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1472, SERIES 2005 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />ARTICLE VI, SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 554, SERIES 1977, AS <br />AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 994, SERIES 1989, ORDINANCE NO. 1258, <br />SERIES 1997, ORDINANCE NO. 1296, SERIES 1999, AND ORDINANCE NO. <br />1378, SERIES 2002, ORDINANCE NO. 1449, SERIES 2004 AND ORDINANCE <br />NO. 1458, SERIES 2004 TO EXTEND TO AND INCLUDING JULY 15, 2007, <br />THE ELECTRIC AND GASEOUS FUEL FRANCHISE GRANTED BY THE CITY <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO TO PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY OF <br />COLORADO - 2nd reading - public hearing (advertised Daily Camera <br />6/11/05) <br />Mayor Sisk requested a City Attorney introduction. <br /> <br />City Attorney Light read Ordinance No. 1472, Series 2005. <br />
