The bell
tower was removed sometime prior to the 1960s and was rebuilt in 2004 using
historic photographs. The Memory Square Pool building was added to the north
elevation of the Building in 1973 and is not included in this landmark application.
The building is currently being used as the Louisville Center for the Arts. The Niehoff family
moved to Louisville in the 1870s and owned the house into the 1980s.

This wood-frame house on a low concrete foundation has undulated asbestos
shingle siding. An addition was placed on the west side of the structure prior to
the 1960s. The building is currently being used as the City of Louisville Land
Management Department. The Commission determined that this building meets
the criteria set forth in section 15.36.050. The Commission also determined that
the building in its entirety should be landmarked as an individual structure. The
Commission encourages the City to remove the asbestos siding and return the
building to its original state as the City budget allows.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Commissioner Heather Lewis commented that the Commission reviews each
historic site carefully.
