Louisville City Council Meeting
September 19, 2000
Page 26.

VOTE ON TItE AMENDMENT: Roll call vote was taken. Motion passed by a vote of
5-2. Sisk and Mayer voted no.

Davidson asked the Urban Wildlife Task Force and Open Space Advisory Board if they
wished to speak before Council voted on the motion.

City Attorney reminded Council that they voted on the unfriendly amendment but still
must vote on the main motion.

Pat Hombostel, Urban Wildlife Task Force member, stated that part 3 and 4 of the
recommendations are crucial. He noted that the Open Space Advisory Board must
complete the survey, so that the Urban Wildlife Task Force can recommend the
appropriate relocation sites.

Dr. Stone stated that all front-range communities are going through the same process. He
noted that short-term policies limit the options available. He stressed that an adopted
long-term plan will provide more flexibility after regulations are enacted.

Jim Cummings, 794 W. Pinyon Way, Louisville, CO stated that he is a member of the
Urban Wildlife Task Force. He suggested the comment that anything less than 50 acres
is not sustainable for a prairie dog colony, was not true and that the biologist did not
address specific acreage. He stated he did not believe the Council should go forward on
that assumption.

Jan McHugh, 1116 W. Enclave Circle, Louisville, CO stated that she is the Chairperson
for the Urban Wildlife Task Force. She supported the work of the Urban Wildlife Task
Force and stressed the importance of funds needed for the management plan. She
suggested working in partnership with the County on relocation sites. She voiced her
opinion that it is irresponsible to move any prairie dogs until the relocation sites are
established. She stated that she supported Dr. Stone's report and the recommendations
forwarded to Council.

Bob Muckle, 1101 Lincoln Avenue, Louisville, CO stated that he is a member of the
Open Space Board. He encouraged the Council to adopt the Open Space Advisory Board
and Urban Wildlife Task Force proposal. He stressed that it was a very carefully,
thought-out plan. He referred to the Open Space Advisory Boards' development of a
comprehensive plan for the management of open space lands in Louisville. He stated that
the prairie dog relocation is just one part of the plan. He stated that he appreciates the
Councils' and citizens' concern for a long-term solution. He explained that the Open
Space Advisory Board has been meeting since early summer and will begin the inventory
of open space.

26
