Specific <br />design features of this street type are not currently within the City's street design <br />regulations. <br />The street cross sections on page 8 of 18 show how the livable ROW will be designed <br />for multi -modal purposes. Unique and challenging aspects of this street include: <br />• 11'travel lanes <br />• 5' Extruded gutter pan bike lanes <br />• 6' Sidewalk <br />• Parkway (Tree Lawn) <br />• Substandard curve radii (below 150-feet (25 mph)) <br />An objective to this living street is to calm (stow) traffic speeds to enable a shared street <br />environment. In principal, the City supports the intent of the street's design. However, in <br />its current layout, the street creates challenging ongoing safety and maintenance <br />concerns for the City. <br />} BIKE LANE <br />„'DRIVE <br />"" WIVE tA' 5'EIKE WCi n TREE LAM 6'90E'M&X <br />The City does not accept proposed streets which do not conform to City Design and <br />Construction Standards. In this case the right of way width Is under 50'; the flow line <br />dimension (curb face to curb face) varies from 24' to 40' and not consistent with the local <br />street standard of 36'; walks are provided on only one side of the street and the <br />centerline curve radius at Luke Street and Steel Street intersection is under 150'. <br />Therefore, the City will not accept proposed ROW and street widths for Steel Street and <br />Luke Street as part of this preliminary submittal. <br />The City is willing to continue to work with the applicant to determine an acceptable <br />alternative ROW and street design dimensions prior to final submittal. <br />As proposed. the tuming radius the intersection of Steel Street to Luke Street. along with <br />ROW dimensions do not meet City Standards. The applicant and Public Works <br />Department have determined a roundabout, or similar design, could be considered at <br />6 <br />
