City Council
Meeting Minutes
May 1, 2012
Darlene Nahobyl, 2333 Dogwood Circle, Louisville, CO submitted a petition, which
contained signatures of Louisville residents who requested denial of the development.
She stated the Loftus development requires apartment renters to pay for their parking.
She stated the size of the project is too large and urged Council to deny this proposal.
Steve McGrath, 738 Wildrose Way, Louisville, CO stated this area will never be retail
again. He felt the proposed project makes a lot of sense and asked whether the City
wants a dead grocery store or a revitalized area.
Steve Meyer, 708 Club Circle, Louisville, CO was impressed with staff's presentation
and the proposal. He stated Louisville has to consider how to handle these areas
throughout the City. He supported the proposal.
Umberto Filesari, 1611 Garfield Avenue, Apt #20, Louisville, CO stated the residents
have to be represented and requested Council asks the citizens what they want.
Annie Hughes, 1405 Garfield Court, Louisville, CO stated she felt the site would be
good location for a health foods store. She felt the City is losing tax dollars to other
communities. She addressed the cost of tap fees and noted sales tax would make up
the difference in 3-6 years. She did not agree with the traffic analysis relative to a
grocery store bringing in more traffic than an apartment complex. She felt the City
should make an incentive offer to bring in a health foods store.
Devona Sayler, 2253 Crown Circle, Louisville, CO stated the project is too large and
would impact the neighborhood and parking. She suggested waiting until the recession
ends and get a major retailer in the Safeway site.
Alisa Meyers, 2305 Cliffrose Lane, Louisville, CO stated her home backs up to open
space, where several species of wildlife make their home. She expressed her concern
that the apartment renters, who do not have a long-time vested interest in the City, may
cause a trickle down affect, which would impact public lands.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Mayor Muckle stated the City Council agreed earlier in the evening to end the
discussion at 10:00 p.m., and continue the public hearing to the next regular meeting on
May 15th
Councilor Sackett asked why Council could not make a decision this evening.
