Open Space Advisory Board
Nlinutes
June 13, 2012
• Chris Prah resigned last week, so Staff is currently considering how to address
this vacancy.
VI. Board Updates
• Tom asked about rabbit control. The City has no plan to control the rabbit
population at this time.
VII. Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda
• Steven Spencer, 531 Treece-
• Staff did a walk- through of the Bullhead Gulch, and the issues have been
resolved with the dying trees and grasses.
D Mr. Spencer stated that because of the walk - through, the developer has
increased the watering of the open space and parks area. He noted that a
lot of the water is running off down the street.
• Ember stated that Staff is aware of the water problem and the issue
will be added to the punch list for the developer to address prior to
the City taking over management responsibility.
VIII. Discussion: Summary of Study Session with City Council
• City Council was receptive to OSAB's 2012 goals and activities.
• By the July meeting, Council should have made a decision regarding whether to
include a sunset provision on the Open Space Tax renewal.
IX. Discussion: Open Space Open House
a. Update on Touch -a -Truck Event
• OSAB and Louisville's Open Space got a lot of good exposure.
• Next time, it would be useful to include something for the kids to play with so that
the parents could take a few minutes to read the signs.
• We should add a sign about coyotes, particularly about hazing, the coyote report
form, coyotes as predators, and not feeding / deterring coyotes from coming into
your yard.
0 Laura has volunteered to make a coyote sign and plans on having it ready
by early next week.
b. Reschedule the Weekday Event
• Can we hang a poster in the Rec Center? Perhaps on a rotating basis?
X. Discussion: Open Space CIP Matrix Development
• Justin proposed that OSAB take up the issue of maintenance and capital
improvement projects on open space, particularly where the Open Space Tax
funds are likely to be used.
