Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
May 21, 2012

Stewart asked how large is the property.
Kline stated it is about 10,000 SF and the house is about 1,000 SF. The house has out
lived its usefulness. The previous owner had been renting it but it has a lot of water
damage.
Fasick inquired do you know the history of this house, previous to Julie Boyd.
Kline answered they did some research but they did not find anything too interesting. It
was built in 1945.
Fasick inquired has the structure been stucco’d.
Andy Johnson answered from our research it appears the house has always looked like
what it looks like today, with very little modifications or additions.
The HPC discussed whether the photo was from 1978 or 1948.
Stewart inquired whether they have discussed with staff the demolition process.
Johnson answered yes.
Stewart stated it is difficult for us to determine if this structure is historic or not without
the formal information that brings forth with a proper demolition application.
McCartney stated this property is not in the City yet so it doesn’t make sense to process
this property unless it is in the City boundaries.
Koertje stated the HPC has to consider the eligibility of the structure for architectural
integrity and social. Architecturally this structure appears to be fairly strong from its
original construction. The HPC is unsure of the social until they receive it from Bridget
Bacon.
Fasick stated the interesting part of this structure is it is a post WWII structure and there
aren’t too many of those remaining.
Johnson stated this is a fairly simple structure. It looks like it would be older but it isn’t.
Koertje inquired if there is a plan to bring any other properties in with this annexation.
Johnson answered just this one.
Koertje inquired if they were to apply to demolish this structure with the County they
have a demolition review as well, correct.
Johnson answered yes.
La Grave inquired how does it contextually fit with the neighborhood.
