Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 21, 2012 <br />Page 7 of 10 <br /> <br />La Grave inquired what the extraordinary circumstances for this structure is if most of <br />the structures in old town are built this way. <br />McCartney stated the roof span for this structure is much wider than most structures. <br />La Grave asked how many more structures in town are at risk. <br />Stewart stated most historic structures are stressed 30% past what they can handle. <br />This structure is 150% past what it can handle. The difference is most structures have <br />been modified. <br />Stewart – the primary reductions in this new bid would be the removal for the need of <br />foundation work, removal for the need of asbestos abatement, and removal of the need <br />to reroof the structure. <br />Popptiz moved to approve the request. <br />Koertje seconded the motion. <br />Roll Call vote – approved 6 to 0 <br />Motion carries <br />Committee Reports <br />Cemetery <br />Koertje stated the outstanding item is determining what can be done for the notification <br />requirement. He stated he would research this item and have it at the next meeting. <br />Commercial Incentives <br />Stewart stated he has worked a little with Lewis on this but they still have a few items to <br />work out. <br />La Grave offered to volunteer to work on this item because he has some good outreach <br />ideas to include. <br />GIS Google Maps <br />La Grave spoke directly to the maps he sent to staff for the HPC to review. He <br />recommended the maps be hosted by the City on their website. <br />Robinson stated he would work with the Public Relations Manager to get this linked to <br />our website. <br />Stewart stated a great overlay to add would be the structures on the National Register <br /> <br />
