Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
April 16, 2012

Fasick - maybe this is a New Deal project. I can research this. At the most we should
photo document this structure.
Lewis - also, if saving is not possible, maybe we could save the materials for future use.
821 McKinley
Robinson presented the item regarding the subcommittee review. The permit was
released due to lack of integrity.
Lewis - I was one of the committee members. It did not have a strong social history and
the structure had been modified over time. We felt it would not be eligible based on our
criteria.
1116 Jefferson
Robinson presented the item giving the HPC a heads up of this upcoming demo review.
He reminded the HPC this property had gone before the HPC a few years ago and it
was released.
Grain Elevator
Robinson presented this item and informed them of the RFP.
Stewart - La Grave and I have spoken with the owner’s rep. There is a meeting
scheduled on 4/20 with staff, Faisck, Stewart and the State to talk about incentives that
might be available. We are trying to pinpoint the liability effect that was discussed by
the owner’s rep so we thought we would research how much it would be for the City to
take over liability expense.
Koertje - is CPI going to be involved in this meeting.
Stewart - not at this meeting but they would like to be kept up to date.
John Leary - Colorado Historical Foundation has funding options as well.
801 Walnut
Robinson presented the item explaining how the structure had advanced to a full demo.
The contractor stated the structure was accidently demolished but it was not structurally
advanced to be saved. He showed the proposed elevations as submitted for building
permit.
Stewart - Poppitz and I worked on the subcommittee and were fairly upset the structure
was removed. We hope the building department was aware and that a shoring plan
should have been included at time of permit.
