There will be crafts <br />and hot chocolate after the Story Time. <br />LOCAL HISTORY BROWN BAG TALK <br />Tuesday, December 6 ❖ 12 -1 PM (Library Meeting Room) <br />Here Today and There Tomorrow: Louisville and Its His- <br />tory of Relocating Buildings Historic Preservation Commis- <br />sion member Heather Lewis will present this talk, based on <br />her article in the Fall 2011 issue of The Louisville Historian. <br />CHILDREN'S ART AT THE LIBRARY <br />Opening Reception ❖ March 1 ❖ 5:30 -7:30 PM <br />The Louisville Library and the Louisville Art Association <br />sponsor this non - juried show for students ages 4 -18. Partici- <br />pants must be residents of Louisville or Superior or attend <br />Louisville or Superior schools. Student work will be on dis- <br />play in the Library Art Gallery. Applications will be available <br />in January at the Library. <br />TEEN TECH WEEK 2012 <br />« Geek Out @ your library" is this year's theme for <br />Teen Tech Week, March 4 -10. Teen Tech Week <br />provides information and hands -on experiences to help teens <br />become competent and ethical users of technologies, especial- <br />ly those that are available through libraries. Check the Library <br />web site or Louisville Loft Facebook page for details about <br />special tech - related activities. <br />DISCOVER EARTH: <br />A CENTURY OF CHANGE <br />From early November through December 24, the <br />Library is hosting an exciting new interactive ex- <br />hibit. This free exhibit, on loan from the Boulder -based <br />Space Science Institute, will make Louisville its first stop <br />on its 10- library national tour. The exhibit highlights the <br />people who carry out earth and environmental science <br />research in challenging places, such as the North and <br />South Poles and in the deep ocean. <br />The exhibit features several hands -on displays includ- <br />ing Magic Planet, which allows patrons to explore stun- <br />ning visualizations of the global earth system produced <br />by NASA and NOAA, such as tsunamis, hurricanes, <br />earthquakes, plate tectonics, changing sea ice, and more. <br />Along with the exhibits, visitors are encouraged to <br />participate in creating a photo archive of local environ- <br />mental changes within the last 100 years by displaying <br />personal photos of the local area as part of the exhibi- <br />tion. Come in to the Library gallery on the first floor to <br />see photos of Louisville and Boulder County and bring <br />in your own photos, stories, and artwork to add as part <br />of the display! <br />CU OUTREACH PROGRAMS IN 2012 <br />You may have enjoyed hearing the talented CU- <br />Boulder Opera Theatre Singers at the Library in <br />October. We are happy to report that other CU pro- <br />grams are scheduled at the Library in 2012, as part of <br />the University's outreach efforts.
