0
n
Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
July 12, 2006
populated area within Louisville. The cost of the property seems to be the main
sticking point for acquiring the property and there are options.
Jean Morgan asked if the City would purchase the property, what would the costs
be per acre as compared to other parcels purchased by the City.
Judith Champion spoke and indicated that the Homeowners Association would
be willing to give the one acre parcel, which abuts the corridor property, to the
City if it would keep the entire property as open space.
She indicated that the property asking price was $1.8 million originally, and now
the asking price is $!.3 million.
Jim Tailor lives on Harper asked why this was the lowest priority category.
John Watt indicated that he would ask the Open Space property reconsider the
open space designation priority ranking.
Bob Pierce lives on Eisenhower and represents the Homeowners Association
indicated that traffic is a concern already and indicated that open space is a way
to mitigate traffic. He also spoke about adverse possession and indicated that
this property may have been adversely possessed.
Blue Champion spoke about their land and challenged the open space board to
place ourselves in their shoes.
Doug Walter lives on Harper Street thanked the Committee for serving and
suggested that the property purchased as open space would promote public
safety.
David Smart indicated that he was pleased that we visited the property. He
suggested that this property is for sale and that we ought to use this opportunity
to purchase the parcel.
Scott Robson indicated that price is certainly an issue.
David Watkins asked at what point would the City determine that the property
would be irresistible?
Phil Harbor asked if the City would be willing to buy the back four acres. How
would we find out if there was some other department who may be interested in
using the front part of the property for other City purposes.
Judith Champion indicated that the County may not be interested this parcel but
O they would be interested in a property and we can use County money for the
parcels that they are interested.
