• 1. A contractor will begin working on the Callahan property on 11 -8 -04 doing weed <br />control to remove Canadian thistle and bindweed from near the trail. More weed control <br />will be done at Aquarius, CTC, Dillon & 88th, Davidson Mesa, and the retention pond at <br />Cherry & 104th <br />2. Crusher fine trail construction will begin on Davidson Mesa in 2004. <br />3. The city will be removing prairie dogs from the Daughenbaugh property which are <br />within the 100 ft. trail buffer outlined in the Management plan. The plan is donate the <br />prairie dogs to the raptor rehabilitation program. <br />4. Responding to a question from Bob Muckle on the reseeding of the Highway 42 <br />construction, Mr. Moline noted that the contractor doesn't want anyone in the site while <br />construction is ongoing (for liability reasons), but that we have until February or March, <br />2005 to complete dormant seeding. <br />5. Kiosk designs for the Davidson Mesa project, similar to the Aquarius trailhead and <br />other county trails, are being considered. <br />6. Open Space Rules and Regulations are being circulated among various city <br />constituencies for review and approval. <br />Agenda items <br />1. Davidson Mesa Trails and Access Points Discussion: In a general discussion, it was <br />• noted that; <br />- the access point on the northwest part of the western parcel has public access; <br />- one of the homeowners near that public access does not want more formalized access as <br />it would increase traffic; <br />- there are several options for public access on the northwest part of the eastern parcel, <br />the best of which is the public easement as identified in a 1960's plat and "supported" by <br />a crosswalk painted and maintained by the county. <br />There were two motions as a result of this discussion: <br />- John Carron moved that, re: trail work and construction on the Davison Mesa, the Board <br />state its support for following the proposed trail alignment in the northwest corner of the <br />property, and for erosion control mechanisms as needed. Pat Hornbostel seconded. <br />Motion passed 5 -0. <br />- Cary Tengler moved that the Board recommend the establishment of six formal points <br />of public access on the identified alignment (including Dyer Rd., Ohmeda, McCaslin, <br />Davidson Ditch, Skyway Dr. /powerline, and the northwest corner of the southwest <br />parcel), with regulation signs at all points, a natural surface spur trail at the Davidson <br />Ditch, and crusher fine spur trails at all other access points. John Carron seconded. <br />Motion passed 5 -0. <br />2. Dog Off Leash Areas Discussion <br />• John Carron noted that several dog owners he interviewed were happy with the current <br />set -up on Davidson Mesa, as the area is not highly utilized.
