•
•
•
Susan Lu, Louisville resident — Ms. Lu questioned why the trails discussion had begun
prior to the 7:30pm time listed on the agenda and asked that information re: future
agendas be more readily available. She also asked about the enforcement of trail usage
violations.
*Secretary's Note — As noted above, the St. Louis Paris agenda item was postponed and
it was decided to proceed directly to the trails discussion to accommodate as much public
input as possible.
Ty Gee, Louisville resident — Mr. Gee identified himself as a fitness user of Open Space.
Mr. Gee noted that, historically, Open Space funds have been used primarily for the
acquisition of Open Space, rather than the management of existing Open Space. He then
provided some background on the LOSCAB and City Staff's efforts over the last several
years to include the use of more scientific information as a basis for making sound, fair,
and unemotional decisions about the designations and management direction of various
parcels._
David Gross — Mr. Gross expressed concern that closing social trails would create more
traffic on the main trail, thereby diminishing the experience for all.
Tammy Deck — Ms. Deck recommended that the perimeter trail be maintained and
stressed that we should use the ecologically important areas of the Mesa to educate users
of the value.
Chris Pitcher, Louisville resident — Mr. Pitcher said closing off access to the Mesa raises
Open Space funding issues. He also mentioned that he generally sees users abiding by
the rules.
Jim Cummings, Louisville resident — Mr. Cummings identified himself as a heavy user of
Open Space and indicated that he had begun avoiding using social trails on the Mesa. He
commented that the Mesa is crisscrossed with "many social trails" and that unless these
trails are closed, he would be opposed to a figure -8 perimeter trail, on the basis that there
are already too many trails. Mr. Cummings also noted that signs and an educational
program would be required to ensure compliance with any trail closures.
Cheryl Hyam — Ms. Hyam noted that the use of the Mesa's social trails is limited and that
people generally stay off the trails when they are muddy.
Kelly Johannes* - Agreed with Mr. Scott.
Walter Davis, Louisville resident — Mr. Davis asked that City Staff and LOSCAB draw
up maps showing the proposed perimeter trail configuration.
