City Council <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> December 4, 2012 <br /> Page 5 of 16 <br /> • Urban Renewal District— Staff is working with Boulder County Assessor's office <br /> relative to the assessed valuation of properties in the Urban Renewal Area. <br /> • Downtown updates—WinterSkate is open and the Parade of Lights is December <br /> 7th at 7pm. <br /> • Business Retention Visits — Staff is following up on concerns from visits of local <br /> businesses. Electricity reliability and transit service has been discussed. Staff <br /> has met with Xcel Energy, RTD and 36 Commuting Solutions. <br /> Council member Keany asked when Phillips 66 will list the property. Economic <br /> Development Director DeJong stated Phillips 66 has completed an RFP for real estate <br /> representation and proposes to select an agent in January. The property will be listed <br /> shortly thereafter. <br /> Council member Keany asked if he has been contacted by people interested in the <br /> property. Economic Development Director stated realtors interested in listing the <br /> property have contacted him for background information. He had not heard from <br /> developers. <br /> Council member Keany requested the City supply a packet of information for <br /> prospective realtors and developers. <br /> Mayor Muckle asked about activity on the vacant commercial buildings. Economic <br /> Development Director DeJong stated the former A&W building will reopen,in December <br /> as a LePeep Restaurant. The former Checker Auto Parts Store has been converted to <br /> a new business called The Scrapbook Shack. The Big Lots continues to be a <br /> challenge. The former 7-Eleven site is being converted to accommodate an Elevations <br /> Credit Union. Staff continues to work with Sam's Club on a potential tenant. <br /> Council member Loo asked why Dairy Queen closed.
