Historical Commission
Minutes
December 5, 2012
1. Approval of Deeds of Gifts from donors. The Commission voted to accept the following
donations as presented by Bridget Bacon:
a. From June Enrietto, family history items and information from the Fenolia and
Allera families.
b. From Arlene Leggett, programs from past Louisville theater events.
c. From Shirley Bodaine, photo of their grandparents, the Liddles, who came from
England and settled in Louisville.
d. From Pat Monette, “Louisville Tidbits” a 1970s recipes collection that includes a
history of Louisville at the beginning of the book.
e. From Rita Ferrera, a family history book with lots of photos.
f. From Duane Elrod, five deeds involving transfers of property in old town.
g. From Jim Lastoka, items from the Harney Lastoka family including copies of the
Louisville Times, boy scout Items, and Redman Hall documents.
g. From Grant Brandenburg, a water color called “Foothills” by Louisville-born painter
Silvio Carl Fracassini, painted in 1939. Fracassini lived from 1907-1997. He
moved to southern Colorado, became a coal miner, and later went to DU and
became an Art Professor. Before this donation, Fracassini was unknown to us at
the Museum. Brandenburg purchased the painting second hand in Lafayette.

2. Advice sought on donations of other artifacts being offered. The Commission voted not
to accept a white shirt that had been part of a Louisville fireman’s uniform because it was
not clearly distinct for Louisville and was from a modern era.
3. Questions regarding Museum Coordinator’s written report. Dan asked about a historic
survey of downtown Louisville that was mentioned in the last Community Update. Bridget
explained that the Planning Department was given a state grant for a survey to document
all of the historic buildings of old town. She stated that although surveys of limited
sections of Louisville have been done before, this will be the first time that all historic
buildings will be documented in a survey. It will be a reconnaissance survey as opposed
to an intensive level survey. The results are to be compiled in a database format that tied
to a GIS mapping program.
Also, Bridget reported that the City of Louisville donated $1,000 to the Historical
Commission from the proceeds of the Coal Creek Crossing race during the Fall Festival.
Sally Burlingame offered to write a thank you to the City for its generous donation.
Bridget passed around an issue of Colorado Hometown Weekly with three articles by Kim
Turner that were relevant to Louisville history and the Museum.
4. Museum Open House during Parade of Lights – Commission signups to assist with
visitors at the Museum (Friday, Dec. 7, 6-8 p.m.). Dave, Anne, Pat, and Jennifer will
attend.
C. Discussion/Direction/Action – 2013 Pioneer Award. Dave Ferguson nominated Barbara
DiSalle. The Commission voted to confirm her as the recipient. Dave will let her know and
offered to write up a piece for the Louisville Historian and obtain a photo.
D. Chairperson’s Report
1. Study Session with City Council – review. This is the first meeting since our annual study
session with City Council. Dan reviewed the high points of the session.
